Who are we? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
We are people who believe that bicyclists have the same rights as motorists, especially the right
to fair and respectful treatment by police officers.

Some of us are friends of Stephan Orsak, who was stopped by Airport Police just for riding a
bicycle away from the Minneapolis St Paul (MSP) airport. Stephan was tasered and arrested,
eventually tried on 5 counts, found NOT guilty on 4 counts. He is appealing "Failure to Comply with
a Lawful Order".
What order is not specified. See www.greencycles.blogspot.com

We are a project-driven organization, and our first project is supporting the interest of the bicycle
community through the creation of an
amicus curiae (friend of the court) brief participating in the
case Stephan is appealing. The
amicus will be an independent analysis of the issues involved for
the bicycle community as a whole. It will argue that police do not have the right to stop a bicyclist
simply based on an officer's perception that it might be dangerous to be bicycling, rather than
driving a car. It is being written by Joe Vacek, attorney-at-law who owns the law firm Joe Vacek,
PLLC and serves on the Minnesota State Bicycle Advocacy Committee.

Bike Amici supports the interest of Stephan Orsak, and so we are also open to helping him with
his own legal fees such as court filing fees, printing, and transcript preparation fees, wherever
most needed.

Stephan's case is one that really is about all of us as bikers. This case can really make a
difference for the legal recognition of our rights. Few cases are so clearly defined. That is why we
think it is very important to support this case.

If you agree, we welcome your support and invite you to join us.
